This week has been filled with shopping and preparations for next week. With the many times I have been in Target this week, I know that I am not alone. The stores are filled with shoppers trying to find gifts for loved ones.

I was talking with several moms last week who were in need of ideas for stockings and they didn’t want to give any candy. So I pulled together a list of small toys, tools, and games that make great stocking stuffers (or small gifts if your child is exchanging gifts with a friend).

Here are 25 Sensational Stocking Stuffer Ideas:

Bookmarks – there are so many cool options. We love the bookmarks with lights and timers, the magnetic bookmarks, and even old-fashion paper bookmarks. (We often give a bookmark and bookstore giftcard for birthday presents. My daughter loves picking out just the right bookmark and she loves allowing her friend to purchase what they want. She describes it as getting two gifts – one when they get the gift card and then the second is when they get to go shopping.)

Multi-colored pens are a fun and easy way to have multiple colors with you. These are great for travel or when you are waiting in restaurants. My kids love these – they think it is so cool to see different colors in the same pen.

We love having small notebooks around. Fun notebooks can encourage doodling and writing.

Fun erasers make a great treat! 🙂

Crayons are a great gift your kids can use throughout the year and often. We love having smaller crayon sets to travel with  – whether to restaurants or on trips.

We love these eboo story cards. We have several versions and we love to play with them. My son loves telling wild and fanciful stories.  These definitely encourage imagination and storytelling.

These eboo flash cards make great conversation starters and there are multiple options available – some encourage good manners, some encourage empathy, and some are focused on citizenship.

Bananagrams are a super fun game that make a great stocking stuffer!

We love these small play-doh packs for stocking stuffers (and as party favors).

Thinkfun games are awesome and make great small gifts!

My daughter and her friends love these IQ games. We have several versions and my kids love to play each of them as they offer different types of challenges.

We love card games at our house and our favorites are from Peaceable Kingdom.  These classic games are easy to play based on the vibrant illustrations. These cards are drawn in a way to allow even little ones to play.

Kanoodle is similar to the IQ games and equally as fun. We have given this as a gift several times and it is always a hit.

I love to give practical gifts and my kids love these water bottles and I know that they will get lots of use.

Toothbrushes are another great practical gift.

We love bath crayons for encouraging writing and practicing spelling during bath time.

Band-Aids with favorite characters or fun designs can make great stocking stuffers.
My kids love receiving fidget spinners and toys. There are so many great options out there. These come in handy in the car, while waiting for appointments or meals, or even when listening to a book being read aloud.

Walkie Talkies can be a fun gift. A few Christmases ago, my children each received one in their stockings. (This helped with sharing since they each had one) They loved talking back and forth from various rooms in the house. There are several versions that have 3 Walkie Talkies if you have more kids than we do.

For some reason my kids love festive socks and I am happy to see there are so many fun options.

Tenzi is one of our most favorite games of all times. This fast-paced game can be enjoyed by younger kids and adults. We love the funky colored dice and the many ways to play.

We love the Eye Found It games and I was excited to find a smaller version great for travel.

We love the Spot It! Games. There are many different versions so you are sure to find something your family will enjoy. There are also Spot It! Jr versions which make it a little easier for younger children. These visual games are quick-paced and great for encouraging your child’s visual discrimination skills.
My kids are really into Legos right now so there will be several of these in their stockings. I love the added element of surprise with these sealed bags. It’s really fun to see what they get to build.
Cookie cutters and tools are great for making cookies together but we also love them for play-doh, tracing with paper and pencil, and playing in the sand at the beach. There are so many uses for cookie cutters; these make a great gift.

Hope these recommendations make your shopping a little easier and your gift giving even more fun!
